Announcements:

  1. Starke Elementary School in Deland has received a substantial Grant from the ARRL to provide the necessary equipment for a top notch Amateur Radio Club.
  2. The DBARA Hams in Schools Program will begin in Silver Sands Middle School this fall.
  3. Raffle tickets will be available for $15.00 each, to win a DStar Radio.  The Raffle will be held at the Annual Awards Banquet in Dec.  See any of the Board Members to purchase your tickets.

Old Business: 

      1. Frank Haas KB4T suggested we keep the old Repeater as a backup since we are now in the process of purchasing a new one.  He agreed to work with Steve Szabo WB4OMM

Announcements:

  1. Fred Magliacane KF4VRS:  there will be a change in the Volusia County Emergency Radio Organization.  Doug Hubbs has resigned as AEC for VARECS. The name will be changed from VARECS to Volusia ARES.  This reflects not only a change in name, but also in mission.  This organization will provide services to municipalities in Volusia County.
  2. There will be a Hamfest in Fort Pierce on Aug 14th.
  3. Raffle tickets will be available for $15.00 each, to win a DStar Radio.
  4. Jeff Mathews AJ4MQ:  A web site has been established for EmergencyServices.Org

A class for Sept 5th is in the works.  The subject will be Power Supplies and Grounding.  Suggestions for a November class are being considered.

      5.   Frank Haas KB4T: A Net with Amateur Radio Support will be set up for the MS 150K Bikathon from St Augustine to the Plaza Resort.  On August 21st there will be a rehearsal which will last 2 to 3 hours.  Sept 18th there will be a final dress rehearsal.  The event will be held Oct 2nd & 3rd.  Reporting will be to Central Control Point on 147.15 Repeater or 137 as a backup.  Six volunteers will be needed.  It is possible more could be used.

Announcements:

  1. Steve Szabo WB4OMM/All plans have been made and set in motion for Field Day at the Daytona Beach Police Department.  Preprep will be Friday at 10:00 am.  Set up will begin Saturday at 9:00 am.  Hot Dogs and Hamburgers will be served at 5:00 pm.  The Radio Raffle drawing will be held at the Field Day site.  VE testing will be held on site at 9:00am on Saturday.
  2. Dave “Sparky” Lammers AE4DL/Effort will be made to set up a Kids’ Net.  Steven Makky KD0BHG volunteered his services as Net Controller.
  3. Jeff Mathews AJ4MQ/A Basic Electronics Course/Trouble Shooting Your Equipment will be held starting Jan 5 once a week for 6 consecutive sessions.
  4. Treasurer’s Report: Frank Reda AJ4LE/$3,417.01 in the account in addition to the CD.  There is $1,172.10 in the Repeater Fund and $53.00 in the slush fund.

  1. DBARA has purchased a projector which will be used tonight.
  2. A 2 day Course on Emergency Communication/Traffic Handling will be offered by DBARA at the Port Orange Library on May 1st and 2nd.  Please see John LoCicero K4TUG for details and to sign up for the class. 
  3. The Business part of meeting will be shortened to allow time for two program

        1.  Allen Bestwick will be bringing the Keeper in the Classroom project to area Schools.  Samsula will be the first test school.  The PTA is sponsoring the program by providing material for code oscillator kits.  Help is needed to assemble the kits

 2.   Jason Cote WX4WTF has put together a DBARA Facebook page  DBARA, and  a Twitter page at DBARA_DB4V
