After Action Report on the completion of the 2008
Annual
Business, Awards, and Installation of Officers Banquet

Sunday, December 7the, 2008 at 4 PM at The Club House Restaurant 600 Wilder Blvd., Daytona Beach

This years event was a wonderful success  and something that had something for almost everyone present.  Not everyone was a winner but our winners got something of value beside a good meal and a fun time.

John LoCicero, K4TUG, our 2009 President opened up this years banquet with the following speech.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen

Thank you! Thank you for helping build this club into what it is today. Building a club is like building a home. There is the foundation that holds the home up, and the outer walls that give the home strength to stand, and the roof that gives shelter from Mother Nature.

Each and every element that goes into building this shelter is very important- from the nails to the tiniest screw that holds the light switch cover, each part is essential to the whole building. Finally we have a home for a family and that’s what this club has become- a family of individuals combining their knowledge and talents to help each other and the community.

You’re the most amazing group of people I have ever had the honor or opportunity to be associated with. Each and every one of you has that can do attitude and nothing is impossible! The impossible is just something that takes a few more minutes to accomplish. Each of you gives a whole new meaning to the words positive attitude.

As a captain, the first thing I would do when I walked aboard a new vessel with a crew I never met would be to size them up, looking for their weak points and their strong points. I would buddy up the weak ones with the stronger ones to make a very strong crew. For you see the crew is the vessel’s heart and soul.  No one person on that crew was any more important than the next. Each and ever member of the crew had their job that kept the boat afloat and steady on her course. The same thing is happening here in this club. We are working together, taking the negative and turning it into a very positive direction, setting a course for the future.

I am so proud of each and every member of this organization.  I whisper I have a project and the next thing I know I have 10 of you volunteering your time and resources to help.

We now have two schools with growing Ham Radio clubs.  We are also installing a radio station so the kids can get on the air.  Hambone College has turned out a lot of new amateur radio operators who may have never gotten their licenses otherwise.  Many of you have taken the opportunity to upgrade your licenses.

The DBARA is moving into the 21 Century with such vigor and vitality that has not been seen in a very long time.  Our future is bright and I applaud you!
