Old Business: Election, candidates so far: President: John LoCicero K4TUG VP: Jeff Mathews AJ4MQ, Mel Vola K4OWK, Leah Bowen AJ4MR Treasurer: Frank Reda AJ4LE, Ed Cote Jr KA1EHR Secretary: Carolyn Truesdale KI4VWP Director: Bob Ledford WA4IDI, Paul Milward NU4C, Art Byrnes KD4WDK New Business: 1. Each Candidate present stood and made a short speech outlining their qualifications and reasons for seeking office. The election will be conducted by secret ballot. The ballots will be counted by the Election Committee. 2. Banquet Tickets are available for $16.00 each from various DBARA Board members. Tickets will not be available at the door as an advance head count for the reservation is necessary. Please choose beef, chicken or fish entrée. Old Business: None New Business: 1. New Member voted in: (Motion to accept by David Lammers AE4DL, 2nd Bill Schwartz WS1C, the vote was unanimous) Newly licensed Ham Charles McGuinness KJ4NGS- Deland joined under the New Ham Program 2. The Emergency Medical Foundation of Volusia has generously donated $250 to DBARA for the support of Community Service Activities conducted by the Club. 3 A DBARA Committee has been invited to meet with the Volusia County School The meeting was closed after the presentation. Glenn Jones/ Newly Licensed Ham KJ4MNW Ormond Beach b. Darren Sheremeta KE4ZTH 2. A Proclamation by the Mayor of Daytona Beach declaring Amateur Radio Week was read by VP Tom Davies AA3AS 3. Hambone College will be offering several opportunities to grow in the hobby. A Basic Electronics Course will be offered and taught by Jim Needham and Leah Bowen. A CERT Emergency Communications Course is in the works. Also a Tech Course will be offered in early 2010 4. A Field Day Commemorative Coin or Poker Chip was offered. The majority of The members agreed to accept a donation of ceramic poker chips. 5. Plans for Field Day were reviewed. 3 Stations were planned. People were needed to take down the antennas at the end of Field Day on Sunday. Break for coffee and donuts and 50/50 drawing The Presentation on QSL Cards was given by Paul Milward NU4C. The proper format, variety, and possibilities for personalization were very interesting. The meeting disbanded after the presentation. Watch DBARA Yahoo Groups email and listen for announcements on the Club Repeater for the locations of Wednesday Portable Ops. 2. The next Board Meeting will be held March 2, 6:30 PM at the Daytona Beach Picadilly at Volusia Mall on Int’l Speedway 3. Two contests for 2009: Squirrel Fisherman Contest. David “Sparky” Lammers AE4DL will be the head judge. HF Contest. Collect those QSL cards. Jan.1 to Nov. 1 4. Kids’ Day at the Park: A Mini Field Day for kids. We will need volunteers to assist the kids and provide Demos. 5. Per Steve Szabo WB4OMM There will be a CERT Training at Fire Station 1, 301 S Beach St, Daytona Beach. 6. Bill Schwartz WS1C has Off Set Attenuators for sale to those who built antennas at the recent antenna party Old Business: 1. School Project: A $1500 ARRL Grant has been won to provide a station at Samsula. It is hoped we will be able to get the kids on the air to talk with Youngsters at a Boys and Girls Club Radio Club in MI The Club call is K8DAR New Business: 1. Bill Blessingame, General, KI4AAN 2. DBARA Currently has 3 paid Lifetime Members, Steve Szabo WB4OMM, Frank Haas KB4T, and Joe Fernandez AJ4BN 3. Investment of funds into a CD is being investigated. 4. Volunteers will be needed for a combined Field Day/Picnic to be held at Bethune Park or Peggy Schnebly Recreation Center. See Steve Szabo WB4OMM, Coordinator 5. Peggy Schnebly Recreation Center is a possible location for a Clubhouse to include a catered Awards Banquet. 6. Allen Bestwick W1PX addressed the membership to request help with demos at the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. Paul Milward NU4C is coordinator of the Lighthouse project.
