This is the Field Day Coordination Page and News-Messages. It will be organized in reverse time order

That means the first thing you see is the newest item  to come across my screen. Got that?  Good! Now for the hot skinny!

FD Results 2009

Here are the Field Day Stats......2,700+ points....and....

We had several "first timers on HF"....Mark O'Keefe did a great job on phone!! Not bad for a "no code tech"!!! Both the HF and CW stations had a "duet" (operator and logger) for almost all of the 24 hour period, and we
had 6 spend the night. The GOTA station (thanks again Mark) had two youngsters work someone!

We had several "newbees" to digital.....and special thanks to Darryl and Mitch for keeping me company all weekend!!!

Kudos to Tug, Mike, Frank, Bob, Jayson, Bill, Jim, Paul, Dave, geez...I can't remember everyone!!! (PLEASE don't get mad if I forgot you!) We had 36 members sign in - and most operated, brought something, provided something, and helped, and we had everything we needed. We did great. I thank everyone for the part they played, no matter how big or small.......

Below is the submission I made to the ARRL today...and I just uploaded the logs to eQSL and LOTW.

Photos are the way to Mr. Ledford, so he can place them on the DBARA web page, with his usual adept comments!!!! [Oh boy I get the chance t o get  him back for forgetting I helped him the first  couple of hours he was fighting the  intermittent sound cable.]

Good Afternoon All,

Attached are several documents for the 2009 ARRL Field Day event for DBARA and DB CERT ARC.

This year’s event will be held at Bethune Point Park, at the East end of Bellevue Avenue in Daytona Beach.  The park has been reserved for Saturday and Sunday.  I have attached a site map of the location for our operations and the press release.  I have also attached an equipment roster, and an operator’s schedule.  All the files are Adobe Acrobat .pdf files, so they should open on any computer.

·         I need operators to “sign up” for the time blocks as noted by sending me an e-mail and letting me know when you want and what you want to operate - (I blacked out the GOTA and VHF stations during the night as there is no prop at that time)   If I don’t get people to sign up in advance I am going to drop the whole thing and I’ll operate by myself…not an idle threat, but it makes no sense to stage this event and have to “hope” people will show up and operate.  You don’t have to sign up for more than one, but please think about this.  We did an operator and a logger at the HF station and CW station and it worked great at the anniversary operation.  Please e-mail me with your desires!!!!

·         I also need the noted equipment, please send me an e-mail if you can provide.    We will also need some AC power strips (the surge protected kind please!) – about 6 are needed.

·         I will need someone to take care of the picnic… to be held at the Field Day site on Saturday afternoon at 5:00 pm.  This would include coordination of food, beverages, condiments, plates, cups, ice….everything from soup to nuts.  Whomever wants to “volunteer” to chair this part of the event, please let me know.

·         MOST IMPORTANT – We will need some folks to spend all Saturday night at the park with the equipment.  I made arrangements for 6 cots.  I will be staying all night.  Please let me know if you will be keeping me company!!!  We should have at least 6 if at all possible.  I’ll also need to know who is willing to show up early Sunday morning (around 8:00 am or so would be fine) to “relieve” us night guys!  (So we can go shower, change, eat, whatever for a few hours).  Let me know please!!!

·         There will be an “antenna party” at John LoCicero’s house on Saturday, June 6th, at 10:00 am so we can get the rotor installed into the tower, and get the wiring setup; plus make sure the tower is in “OK” condition.  Shouldn’t be more than a few hours.  Let me know if you can come (I need about 4-6 folks to do this).

·         On Friday, June 26th at 1:00 pm there will be an antenna raising party at the park for the main HF station – this would be the tower, 10/15/20 beam, and 10-80M dipole.  It takes about 3 hours or so with 4 people (but the more the better – 6 to 8 would be great!).  Just like we did with the 50th Anniversary operation.  We will need an extension ladder, ropes to tie off the tower (whomever brought the rope last time, please do again!) and some Dacron line to tie off the dipole (two lengths of 100’ would be great.  If anyone of you “squirrel fisherman” could bring your shooter, it would help getting the dipole ends up high enough off the ground to be an advantage.  I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE FRIDAY ANTENNA INSTALL PARTY – I’m returning from an out of state contract late Friday afternoon (Orlando Airport).  I NEED SOMEONE TO VOLUNTEER TO TAKE THIS INSTALL PARTY SUPERVISION AND COORDINATION.  If willing, zip me an e-mail.

WHEW!

That’s all for now….more to follow.  Please send me your info, suggestions, and comments!

73 to all and Happy Easter!
