Traffic cones provided by the City of Daytona Beach
Police Department. No one wanted to trip over all the wiring to
the solar panels, converter and battery of the solar powered
transceiver. |

Nothing today is without its manufacturers "Warning
Labels." |
|
 |
The solar station battery charger status monitoring
device. It maintained a 13.2 to 14.4 VDC level all weekend long
and the station got plenty of use too. |

More warning and information. The only thing wrong
in this picture is the place of manufacture. |

Steve Szabo's PSK Station complete with laptop, Wi-Fi
networking, logging program and PSK program to include a portable fan,
Buddi-Pole antenna setup and note pad. This man goes for getting
the job done and insuring his own personal comfort. Way to go
Steve! |

A more detailed view of the Szabo PSK setup. |

Steve Szabo's Buddi-Pole antenna system set up in a 20
meter ground plane configuration. Worked well for him all weekend.
Took about 15 to 20 minutes to disassemble, pack and put in the car
during teardown phase on Sunday. |

Unidentified person giving the Buddi-Pole dipole of Paul
Milward, NU4C, setup a good looking over. The Buddi-Pole antenna
system is really a versatile system for the portable enthusiast. |

A rare photo of Charles Blackburn, AI4RI on Friday
afternoon. Although Charles was working he stopped by and brought
some lunch for the morning work crew and surveyed the site.
The big white trailer is a PD multi-purpose vehicle set up for radio
setups, as a command post or a refreshment vehicle. It has AC
power generator and AC climate control two very essential tools for the
FL climate. |

Darryl Peterson, AB8GU, sitting at the HF Phone station.
Wonder what was going through his mind at that very moment.
Probably wishing for a trip back in time to a cool day in April or May
this year. |
|
 |
From left to right front to back: Fran Reda, A4LE,
Treasurer, Paul Milward, NU4C, and Daryl Peterson, AB8GU in the
background. All sitting down contemplating what to do next or "do
I really want to do that?" |
|
 |
When you are at the PD you have lots of traffic cones
and barricades to use to mark off areas and keep cars, trucks, and
motorcycles from running into your antennas and work areas. |
|
 |
When your poor and portable you just use what is
available to hold your antenna up and protect o t. A simple
tripod, 3 - 2X4's, 3 sacks of 60 lb. Sakcrete, 6 drywall screws and 3
portable barricades make a good base and protection system. |
|
 |
Well, we are ready so open the gates and let the crowd
come on in. (Left to right) Frank Reda, AJ4LE, Paul Milward, NU4C
and Glenn Jones, KJ4MNW sitting at the "welcome table" taking a break
prior to the 1400 hour kick off time. |
